CENTER FOR DEVELOPMENT OF THE PELAGONIJA REGION
Summary of the Project: The project is dealing with the future regional development of the Regions in Macedonia. Since 2007, Macedonia has formed 8 regions and has implemented the regional policy as a future member of the European Union. Since the regions are newly formed, a better regional cooperation with the EU regions is planned to be achieved by implementing this project. The project stands for the incorporation of the European Values and for bringing EU closer to the citizens. The project aims at closer regional cooperation with the EU Regions, thus, transferring the experience and knowledge in the regions in Macedonia. The project implementation, through different seminars and debates will give the outcome for the future regional development Macedonia. The creation of the long lasting network between the regions will contribute for the future cooperation between the Regions in EU and Macedonia. To project aims at fostering the principles of democracy on local and national level.
Aim of the Project: The project contributes to the idea of the Programme based on constructing a closer Europe among the citizens of Macedonia and the Pelagonija Region in particular. Our aim is to give the citizens and to the regions, a, unique opportunity to gain knowledge and experience of the EU Regional Policy, as well as, for the regional cooperation in EU. Bringing together people from the local regions across Europe to share and exchange experience, opinions, values, to learn from the experience and to build the future of the regions. The project stands for the idea, of giving the citizens full support to European integration and developing the sense of belonging to the European Union.
Specific Aims of the Project: The first specific aim is getting the knowledge and experience, which the regions should get during this project from regional cooperation within the EU Regions. Knowledge and experience gained through the seminars, where the target groups will get closer to the idea of the EU Regional Policy and Regional Cooperation and the function of the EU Regions. This project gives opportunity to the civil organizations, as well as, to the member of the governmental sector, to understand better and implement the EU Regional Policy, and to produce for the further development of the Regions in Macedonia. The second specific aim is the creation of a long- lasting network between the regions in Macedonia and the Regions from the European Union. The project gives the regions a chance to exchange knowledge and experience in the network with the other regions, and full support on the path to the EU integration.
Activities of the Project: As listed in the programme guide, the activities will address 3 of the features:
Action- The project will implement the horizontal features of the European Values listed in the Program. Therefore, the action will also be consisted of:
- 1st Seminar- This seminar will take place in Macedonia. The topic of the seminar will be: Regional Policy in the EU.
- 2nd Seminar- The seminar will deal with the issue of Regional Cooperation in EU, and it will be held in the partner country.
- Publication: The Publication, “Regional Development on the path to EU” will give the overview of the knowledge we have gained from the shared experience with the EU Regions, and in particularly it will present possible perspective for the future regional development in Macedonia.
Debate- During the seminars and the conference, citizens will get the opportunity to interact and participate in the project. The debate will produce for the construction of a closer overview of the Regional Policy and the Regional Cooperation among the participants coming from the NGO sector, the Civil Society organizations dealing with Regional Development, the Members of the Local Self Government Institutions, and the members from the Regions.
Conference: The closing conference is to give visibility of the actions taken during the project. A brief presentation of the project results in the public, in media, local and national journals, and publications.
Networking: The project will encourage the development of long-lasting networking between the Regions in Macedonia and the Regions in EU. The network should lead to active cooperation between the regions from Macedonia and from EU.
Results of the Projects:
Conference: Short presentation of the results, in front of the wider public, in the media, local and national journal, publications.
Publication: The Publication, “Regional Development on the path to EU” will give the overview of the knowledge we have gained from the shared experience with the EU Regions.
Target Groups: The group will be consisted of the citizens of the Pelagonija region, (approximately 240 000 citizens live in Pelagonija), as well as from the other 7 region formed in Macedonia, since we have created a network among the regions in Macedonia. Direct group consisted of: Civil Organizations dealing with Regional Development, Members of the Ministry of Local Self Governance, Members of he Bureau for Regional Development, Advisors of the European Union, Members of NGO, Members of the local, regional and national Universities as well as Members of the International Donors Programs etc.
