Summary of the project
We will realise a film that will cross the victims of Nazism and Stalinism testimonies from different European countries, to participate in the duty to remember of the atrocities of World War Two, and make sure they never happen again. To achieve this, we will have to sensitize the young generation: the diffusion of the film will be accompanied by intergeneration meetings, to put in contact the witnesses of those times and the young people.
Beginning statement
The European Union has been based on fundamental values (freedom, democracy, respect of the human rights) and as a reaction to the atrocities of the Second World War, which has tested these values severely.
Remembering these events make it possible to reaffirm those values, to understand them and not reproduce them. It is important to sensitize the young generations, for which the conflict is already far away. Moreover, this duty to remember is urgent: the witnesses of the time disappear gradually.
Objectives of the project
- Gather Europeans of the various Member States and the various generations around a common history.
- Allow the European young generation to appropriate its past.
- Reinforce the dialogue between generations in order to keep in memory a the history of World War Two
- Warn against the rise of the extremism and insist on the importance to preserve our democratic values of tolerance, respect, citizenship and freedom.
For whom?
- Young Europeans from 12 to 14 years of various countries of the European Union
- The witnesses of World War Two who need opportunities to talk about their experiments.
How?
- Meeting witnesses of various countries and collect their testimonies;
- Compilation of these testimonies in a collection (Internet site or file);
- Realization of a film which crosses their testimonies : a number of predefined questions will be asked, to establish what was similar and what was different in the experiments of the witnesses from different countries (the themes will be defined with the partners : prisoners camps, freedom of speech, army, resistance, end of the war, anti-Semitism,...)
- (Realization of a teaching file accompanying the movie);
- Organization of a projection of the film in each country where we have a partner, in the presence of witnesses and groups of young people;

- Citizenship centres
- Associations defending the Human rights, freedom of expression…
- File centres, libraries…

- Tourist offices
- Arts centres
- Audio-visual associations (realization of films, Internet site)
Where?
It is important to reinforce the dialogue between people who lived the War in different countries and in different ways: Allied powers, forces of the Axis, attacked countries, occupied ones, countries having changed of camp during the war, neutral countries…
Result?
Realization of a collection of testimonies with a pedagogical dimension, a movie and un report about the experiences of the project.
